We strongly suggest that if you're doing your trip planning, you Reserve your Lake Tahoe rental car in advance. During the warmer months, rent a convertible so you can see all the sites as you tour around the lake. During Winter months, you must have a 4 wheel drive with mud /snow tires, or be prepared to get down on the asphalt to put chains on. In the winter season rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle with snow tires, otherwise you will have to put chains on the car.If you bring your own car, be sure you carry chains, or have 4 wheel drive with mud and snow tires. Please don't be stupid and bring your 2 wheel drive vehicle without chains. You may get fined for not carrying your chains in severe weather.
