Specialty Retail stores in Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe is blessed with great shopping. There are specific areas you should check out when window shopping is the order of business. Start your adventure in Old Town Truckee. Truckee has an old fashion main street, lined with unusual one of a kind stores. From Truckee, head toward the Lake, and go into Olympic Valley, home of Squaw Valley and check out The Village at Squaw. You'll find another 50+ stores full of clothes, sporting goods and accessories. From Squaw, head to Tahoe City. On the boulevard around the lake you will find a couple of hundred stores, no chain stores, and lots of unique boutiques.
While you're working your way around the lake, head to Incline Village and you'll find more boutiques, interesting places to dine, and get another perspecitve on Tahoe. On the south shore, head for the newly developing downtown South Lake Tahoe, where the streets are just lined with shops. South has a few more tourist oriented stores, but still quite a few boutiques and one of kinds. The thing that is wonderful about shopping in Lake Tahoe is that you will not find the average typical "mall" type chain stores. Each is owned by a local, whose unique flair has helped to make a name for the store.
