Cross Country Trails In Lake Tahoe

Don't forget your ski rentals.

Yellow - 2.5km

From the Day Lodge around the meadow and back. Our easiest trail. You will find Rolf's Roost Warming Hut on Yellow. Stop there for a hot chocolate or some water, or bring your lunch and enjoy the sun at the picnic tables.

Green - 4km

Green Trail is one of our most popular loops. Gentle terrain takes you further out to the second warming hut. Provides access to the outer trails. Great for practicing your balance and glide on its long, flat stretches. A few ups and downs make it a fun trail with plenty of variety.

Special Green - 3km

The loop within the Green Loop, Special Green is a favorite for novices as well as experts looking for a great place to refine their V2 on flat terrain. Beautiful meadow cruising, and dog-friendly!(see dog page for times, etc.)

Wintergreen - 1km

New in 2003, Wintergreen works you with a short, steeper uphill climb, and then wanders over to Orange Trail deep in the trees. A new favorite among the locals.

Extra Green - 1.5km

A useful link between the north and south sides of Green Trail, Extra adds variety and provides a last gentle climb for those looking for one last hill before returning to the trailhead.

Orange - 5km

Called "the perfect trail", Orange is the ultimate loop for both skating and striding. From the warming hut, follow the direction of the Great Ski Race trail and get a little more climibing, mixed with curvy, winding downhills. Go the opposite way, and find a little easier terrain and quicker access to the loops further out. Either way you go, you will get great a great workout and see some beautiful scenery.

Special Orange 1.5km

Linking the north and south sides of Orange Trail, Special Orange is another fun trail, relatively flat, providing easy access to the Great Ski Race trail and Red.

Red - 4.5km

Known for its deep snow and colder conditions, Red Trail gives you the mid-winter feel all season. Good climbs and great views of Antone Meadows make this a highlight trail.

Gold - 4.5km

Gold holds more snow than any other trail, and stays open the longest. Thrilling downhills and heart pounding climbs make Gold a staple among the intermediate/advanced. Try it, you'll love it.

Silver - 5km

The best view in the world, some have called it. Ski the difficult side for some advanced thrill, or take the easier western side to the view that is great for almost all levels of skier. Take in the panoramic view of Lake Tahoe and bring your lunch. The picnic tables bask in the sun at the viewpoint, so you can too.

Purple - 4km

The "down and up" trail, Purple takes you down south and back up again. A really fun trail with great opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Extra Gold - 3.5km

Also called "the Great Ski Race Trail", Extra Gold accesses the Fibreboard Freeway, a road from Tahoe City to Brockway Summit in Kings Beach (not maintained by the ski area). A sustained, but relatively easy climb leads you to a great view of the lake at the top. The downhill is a great payoff.

Special Gold - 2km

The "escape" off of the Gold Climb, Special Gold bypasses the upper section of Gold Trail and ties you back into Gold down lower.

Blue - 4.5km

A favorite among dog lovers, Blue is one of our two dog-friendly trails (limited use for dogs, see dogs page). Blue loops around Dollar Reservoir, with flat terrain as well as some sustained gentle climbing or downhill, depending on the direction you ski it. Fun skiing, a little bit of everything.

Lakeview - 2km

The name says it all. Sit high above the lake and see everything in the Tahoe Basin. Open up to the view and back down the same way most of the season, Lakeview is not to be missed by those looking for the ultimate photo op.

Lakeview Cutoff .8km

A link from intersections "K" to "L", easy terrain and quiet tree cruising. Another short loop option just beyond the warming hut.
